There are two main components of the bio gas systems as follows:
Digesters are made up of RCC tank or PVC/PP/HDPE tank. Digester is chemical proof, shock and corrosion resistant. The organic matter is decomposed here aerobically and anaerobically to produce biogas and bio fertilizer. Adequate temperature range should be maintained for the proper microbial action. Thermal system is provided to digester.
It is a storage for biogas produced during the decomposition process in the digester. It is mounted on the top of the digester and is dome shaped. It is of two layered, outer layer is made up of PVC and inner layer is made up of rubber or HDPE. Gas valves and safety valves are provided for secure operation.Rubber balloons coated with polypropylene are also used as gas holder. The balloon has safety valve, inlet and outlet. It can be hanged on wall or roof.
It is used for the temporary or periodic burning of the bio gas produced by the plant. It is made up of flame protection tube, the injector and its supporting structure, the ignition and the flame monitoring. It is made up of cast iron. Operational signal is provided by the filling level indication of the gas holder or gas supply systems. This signal sets the burner into operation and surplus biogas is burnt off.
In advanced biogas systems, bio gas is purified up to methane concentration up to of 97%. After this purification, biogas can be used as vehicle fuel or can be filled into cylinders. This advanced biogas system requires gas purifier, electricity generator, compressor and cylinder.
It is used to remove Carbon dioxide, Hydrogen sulphide and moisture in two stages process. The biogas produced is passed through the purification column with cooled water. Due to this, Carbon dioxide, Hydrogen sulphide get dissolved in the water and removed. Drying system consists of drying column and carbon filter. Water remnants from the purified gas are removed by the drying system.
Heat Power Units:-
These units are for production of heat. Heat produced during the process is used for the heating air, water or thermic fluid.
Purified gas is compressed and filled into cylinders. Diaphragm compressors are used in the process. This avoids the contamination of the gas while filling. These
diaphragms are user friendly and low in maintenance.
Electricity generator [Operating on methane or Biogas] :-
This generates electricity. Engine operates on biogas. The engine is connected to alternator. Alternator generates electricity, which can be either used or stored in batteries. The electricity stored in batteries can be converted into AC current with the help of inverter.
